2016’s inaugural Run Ride Race for Research event was the first and largest multi-sport event to be held in the Toowoomba region, raising over $60,000 for the It’s A Bloke Thing Prostate Cancer Luncheon. The It’s a Bloke Thing Foundation flagship event is the Qantaslink It’s a Bloke Thing Prostate Cancer Luncheon which is held annually and has raised $5 million since its inception in 2011. Last year, the It’s a Bloke Thing luncheon raised more than $1.36 million dollars making it one of the largest daytime fundraising initiatives in Australia.

2017’s event will welcome some additions to both the sporting and Family Fun side of the day, including the addition of a Corporate Race Event to encourage the local business market to become involved.

As well as raising much needed funds for Prostate Cancer Research the Foundation also sponsors the Qantaslink It’s a Bloke Thing Prostate Cancer Education Roadshow and in 2016 joined with Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and ManUp to fund and introduce a local Toowoomba Specialist Prostate Cancer Nurse to the region.

The Run Ride Race for Research event will add valuable dollars to the groups fundraising efforts but will also encourage men to talk about their health with other men, partners and families.

The support from local business and sporting groups for 2016’s event was overwhelming and we look forward to their involvement again for this years event to assist in raising even much more needed funds for the cause.  To learn more about the It’s a Bloke Thing Foundation or to make a donation please visit itsablokething.com.au
