A criterium or crit, is a bike race consisting of several laps around a closed circuit, the length of each lap or circuit ranging from about 1 km to 2 km. The shorter duration of the criterium compared to a road race generally means the average speeds are much faster and due to the technical nature of the course, riders bike handling skills come into play throughput the race.
The 2017 Darling Downs Cycling Club Criterium will be conducted on the beautiful hot mix surface of the Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport road network.
The 1km circuit will ensure high speeds with a tight hairpin corner at the 500m mark to really test the riders and string out the peloton.
